Performance Development Framework and Leadership Support

The LEAP Centre is a not-for-profit, community-based organisation specialising in children’s disability services. Led by a Director and supported by a volunteer Board, the organisation wanted to refresh its approach to performance development.
The goal was to move beyond basic annual reviews and spark more meaningful conversations about growth, careers and contribution. The framework needed to complement existing clinical supervision processes, while also encouraging a more strategic lens on professional development and alignment with organisational goals.
We designed a simple, strategic and easy-to-implement Performance Development Framework that supports staff and leaders throughout the year.
This included:
The system was designed to feel easy and actionable, not a tick-box exercise. It created space for shared reflection, two-way feedback, and meaningful goal setting that connects staff development with organisational direction.
The new framework made performance development feel structured but supportive. With dates locked into calendars and clear expectations for both leaders and staff, the process was simple to embed.
Team members now have clarity around their goals, and a stronger sense of how their work contributes to the organisation’s broader impact. Conversations are actually happening — and they’re deeper, more strategic and more future-focused.
The leadership team continues to bring in The HR Haven for ad hoc guidance on leadership, and team development — using Vic as a sounding board and partner when navigating the trickier parts of leading a community-focused team.
